　　一、GMAT语法考试的三大要求。

　　若把GMAT比作战场，那么语法则是当之无愧的兵家必争之地。近42 道的Verbal题目中，语法题接近半数。所以，大家甚至评价其重要性为“GMAT考试语法为王”。对于这样一门考试，它的要求有三大点：

　　二、GMAT语法考试三大要求的理解

　　为帮助大家理解GMAT语法的正确性、准确性和有效性三大要求，小编在此以主谓一致为例来讲解一下。主谓结构指的是在句子写作过程中主语、谓语和宾语之间的相互配合关系。这个配合关系又可以按照难度分成两个层次。

　　1、第一个层次为主语、谓语和宾语的“语法配合关系”，即correct。所谓“语法配合关系”指的是主语、谓语和宾语必须满足“主谓一致”、“时态”和“动词存在”这几个基本的标准语法要求。

　　2、第二层为主语、谓语和宾语的“语义配合关系”，即Precise。“语义配合关系”则要求在“语法配合关系”的基础上保证主语、谓语和宾语的意思搭配是合理的。

　　三、GMAT语法考试三大要求例句剖析

　　1、先看“语法配合关系”。

　　如，Although a surge in retail sales have raised hopes that there is a recovery finally under way, many economists say that without a large amount of spending the recovery might not last.一句话中，通过阅读由“Although”所引导的从句可以容易的发现主语“a surge”应该与一个单数形式的谓语配合;另外，通过观察主句中的动词“say”可以发现，句子的时态应保持为“现在时”，达到了以上两点“语法配合关系”。

　　2、再看“语义配合关系”。

　　The development of a new jumbo rocket that is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than the space shuttle and at a lower cost.

　　(A) The development of a new jumbo rocket that is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than the space shuttle and at a lower cost.

　　(B) The development of a new jumbo rocket is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration and be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit at a lower cost than the space shuttle.

　　(C) The new development of a jumbo rocket, which is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration, will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit at a lower cost than the space shuttle.

　　(D) A newly developed jumbo rocket, which is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration, will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than the space shuttle can, and at a lower cost.(D)

　　(E) A newly developed jumbo rocket, which is expected to carry the United States into its next phase of space exploration, will be able to deliver a heavier load of instruments into orbit than the space shuttle and to cost less.”

　　这道题在GMAT中算是一道中等难度的题目。阅读原句我们发现主语“The development”需要配合单数谓语以达到“语法配合关系”的要求。然而，遗憾的是刚刚帮助我们快速得出答案的方法在这道题中完全失效，我们必须进一步的研究主语和谓语是否在“语义配合关系”。重新阅读原句，我们发现主语“The development”对应的谓语动词为“deliver”，宾语为“load of instruments”。翻译成中文为“发展运送大量的仪器”。奇怪的是“发展”这个抽象的名词如何发出“运送”这个具体的动作?显然原文在主语和动词的配合上存在严重的缺陷。进一步研究原文，我们不难发现能够和“deliver”这个动作配合的是development后的“jumbo rocket”。它应该作为句子的主语与“deliver”满足“语义配合关系”。因此，ABC 这三个选项可以直接排除。再进一步比较D和E，满足比较关系的选项为D
